Policy Discounts
We value your relationship with us. That’s why customers with multiple Alfa® policies may receive a relationship discount. The more policies you have, the greater the amount of the discount. Customers with the following qualifying policies may be eligible for our relationship discount:
Life Insurance
Customers with a qualifying Alfa life insurance policy receive a discount. The more life insurance policies you have, the greater the amount of the discount. Some exclusions apply.
Umbrella
Customers with a qualifying personal, commercial, and farm umbrella policy receives a discount. Some exclusions apply.
Home Ownership
Customers who provide evidence they own their home receive a discount.
Driver Education
Defensive Driver Discount
You may be qualified to save even more on your premium if you’ve taken a defensive driving course or a qualified Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course.*
*You must have a clean driving record for three years and re-qualify every three years. You have to be 55 or older to participate in Alabama. In Georgia, there is not an age limit; however, you may not receive this discount in conjunction with the driver training discount.
As a membership benefit of the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alabama residents get a discounted rate for the Safe Driver Defensive Driving Course through SafeDriver.com.
Youth Honor Student
Good grades can lead to real savings. Unmarried drivers ages 16-24 who attend school full-time (12 hours or more) may qualify by meeting at least one of the following:
- Rank among the upper 20% of class
- Have a GPA of B or better in schools utilizing alpha grading systems
- Have a GPA of 2.0 or better in schools utilizing a numeric 3.0 system
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or better in schools utilizing a numeric 4.0 system
- Be on a Dean’s List or comparable listing for scholastic achievement

Driver Training Discounts
Drivers ages 16 to 20 years old may receive a discount when they successfully complete an acceptable driver education course. This discount cannot be given in addition to the Youth Defensive Driving Discount, and other exclusions may apply.
Youth Defensive Driving/Safety Discount
We give qualifying, unmarried drivers ages 16 to 20 years old a discount for passing the Youth Defensive Driver or Youth Safety Test. This discount cannot be given in conjunction with any other driver training discounts.

Occupational Discounts
Educators
Because children are our future, it takes special people to touch their lives and encourage them to become responsible, educated adults. We applaud teachers for making a difference in every child’s life,
and we’re proud to offer a teacher discount to those who impact the children of today for tomorrow’s future.
Qualifications:
- Must be a full-time teacher or professor employed by a public, private or vocational school, or a college or university.

Military
Being a member of the military or a first responder is an immense responsibility. While others run away from disaster and destruction, you answer the call for aid. While you’re busy protecting our country, putting out fires, rescuing others, navigating floods or whatever other obstacles your job throws at you, let us handle your auto insurance.
Qualifications:
- Must be an active military personnel in Alabama or Georgia
First Responders

Ministers
A job in ministry involves a lot of driving, moving from one place to another in service to the society. Whether you’re involved in planning memorials, officiating a wedding or conducting prayers for the sick, we appreciate what you do to make a difference in the lives of others.
Qualifications:
- Full-time ministers who pastor a place of worship and have no other occupation will be given a discount on their insurance for the vehicle used in their ministry only
- Full-time ministers of music with no other occupation will be given a discount on the vehicle they use in their ministry
- Available to ministers in Alabama
Farmers
Agriculture is one of the most important industries in the United States. After all, America is fed and fueled by farmers, ranchers and producers. It involves a lot of hard work and it’s not without risks. At Alfa, we understand your business and can help you save on your auto insurance by providing a discounted rate to farmers.
Qualifications:
- The vehicle must be owned by an active farmer, principally garaged on a farm
- The policyholder must derive income from the farm operation
- The farmer must live on the farm and be regularly employed by only one farm business
- Retired farmers must be currently insured with Alfa upon retirement in order to maintain farm rates
- Available to Alabama farmers
State or Federal Employees
Being a government or state employee is no easy job and is hard to define when it comes to job descriptions — do you work for the Department of Transportation or the CIA? No matter what position you hold, we’ll offer you a discount. We take pride in offering an affinity discount to those who protect and preserve our state and country.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently employed by the state or federal government in Alabama or Georgia
Auto Manufacturer Employees
Your work keeps us on the road, and the auto manufacturing industry brings a major economic impact to the state of Alabama. As a thank you, auto manufacturer employees may receive an affinity discount.
